Thailand domestic flights

Compare airports, airline schedules and the full journey cost.

Thailand domestic flights can connect a city-and-island itinerary efficiently, particularly when your time is limited. Compare the airport pair, baggage, transfer cost and ticket conditions before deciding. This guide links directly to the main domestic airlines and airport information, with dated price examples rather than an invented fixed national airfare.
Information checked 21 October 2026. Timetable and fare examples are dated snapshots; use the official operator links for your actual travel date. Choose the airport before the airline

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is BKK; Don Mueang is DMK. They are different airports. Check every flight in a connection, including the return. Thai AirAsia sells domestic flights from both Bangkok airports, so the airline name alone is not enough to identify the departure point.
Useful destination codes include CNX for Chiang Mai, CEI for Chiang Rai, HKT for Phuket, KBV for Krabi, USM for Ko Samui, URT for Surat Thani and HDY for Hat Yai. A mainland airport may be convenient for an island transfer, but the flight ticket does not automatically include the road journey or boat.

Current airfare examples and what they mean

Checked 21 October 2026: Thai Airways advertised Bangkok BKK–Phuket HKT, 28–30 October 2026, from THB4,760 for a round trip in economy. It also advertised Chiang Mai CNX–Bangkok BKK, 24–27 November 2026, from THB4,700 round trip in economy. These are advertised search examples, subject to seat availability, not held quotes.
The Thai Airways offer page states that its displayed fares are based on recent searches and include taxes and surcharges. Re-run the dates to see the price currently offered. Do not halve a round-trip fare and present it as a bookable one-way ticket. Check the selected fare’s baggage and change rules separately.

Major domestic airline booking links

Use Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways to compare their available airport pairs and fares. Bangkok Airways is particularly useful to check for a Samui itinerary. Compare its direct island arrival against a mainland flight plus ferry using the total cost and arrival time at the hotel.
For other domestic choices, check Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet directly. Routes and frequencies change, and some cross-region services are seasonal. A route shown in an old network map does not confirm that it operates on your date. Search the airline’s current timetable and availability before arranging an onward booking.

Timetables, transfers and separate tickets

Enter the actual travel date in the airline search to see the flights offered. After booking, use the airline’s flight status and the airport departure board for operational changes. A scheduled departure and a live flight status answer different questions.
If changing between BKK and DMK, include the road transfer and both airlines’ check-in requirements. AOT lists an airport shuttle for eligible connecting passengers; verify boarding evidence, location and operating times directly. Separate bookings may leave you responsible for replacing a missed onward flight.

Compare the complete ticket price

Put the base fare, checked baggage, cabin baggage, seat selection and airport transfer into one comparison. Add sports equipment or a bicycle only after checking the airline’s carriage rules. A cheap fare is useful when it covers the journey you actually intend to make.
Before payment, review the date, airport code, spelling of each passenger name and document requirements. Ask the airline in advance about mobility assistance, batteries and equipment. Keep the booking reference and current check-in instructions accessible offline.
