Thailand ferries and boats

Match the island, pier, sailing and onward connection.

Thailand ferries range from vehicle-carrying ships to passenger catamarans, speedboats and local river services. The exact pier matters as much as the island name. Compare the current sailing, ticket inclusions and mainland transfer before booking, particularly when connecting from a train or flight.
Information checked 21 October 2026. Timetable and fare examples are dated snapshots; use the official operator links for your actual travel date. Hero photograph: Rocky tropical coastline at Tanote Bay on Ko Tao. Destination context photograph; it does not depict the transport service.

Gulf islands: Samui, Phangan and Tao

Compare Lomprayah for its high-speed services and linked mainland transfers, Seatran for the Donsak–Samui connection, and Raja Ferry for its available Gulf vehicle and passenger routes. Read the destination pier carefully: different services may reach different parts of Samui or use different mainland facilities.
Lomprayah publishes a 2026 timetable and downloadable fare-and-route booklet on its official schedule page. Open the relevant origin page and check whether the product includes a bus or van. A fare from an airport or Bangkok is not directly comparable with a pier-to-pier fare.

A dated ferry price and sailing example

Checked 21 October 2026: Seatran’s booking page displayed Donsak Seatran pier–Ko Samui Nathon, 04:45–06:15, at THB220 for the displayed adult passenger fare on 21 October 2026. That is a 90-minute scheduled sailing. It is a dated booking example, not a promise that the same sailing or price will be offered on another date.
Vehicle carriage is a separate comparison. Enter the actual vehicle category and check what is included for the driver and other passengers. We found inconsistent vehicle prices across Seatran information pages, so this guide uses the live vehicle quote rather than publishing an unverified fixed tariff.

Andaman islands and coastal connections

Tigerline Ferry and Bundhaya Speedboat offer direct searches for Andaman journeys such as Phuket, Phi Phi, Ko Lanta and Ko Lipe. Their availability depends on the route and date. Check whether the product is a speedboat, ferry, combined van-and-boat transfer or a connection with intermediate stops.
For a Phuket departure, distinguish Rassada from other piers. For Ko Lipe, check Pak Bara and the landing arrangements shown in the booking. A Langkawi connection crosses an international border and needs separate immigration and entry checks; it should not be treated as an ordinary domestic island hop.

Eastern islands: Trat, Chang, Mak and Kood

For the Trat island group, compare the actual island and mainland pier, not just a generic Koh Chang region label. Boonsiri offers route and date searches for passenger and combined land-and-sea journeys. Confirm whether a hotel transfer is included and which areas are covered.
Seasonal timetables need special care. The Boonsiri timetable page checked during research displayed dated high- and low-season periods that had already ended by October. Use its current booking search for your intended date rather than treating an expired season image as today’s confirmed sailing.

Bangkok river boats and local crossings

Chao Phraya Express Boat publishes a timetable notice effective from 6 October 2026. Its service page lists the Orange Line at THB19 flat fare and Yellow Line at THB24 flat fare. These are the named Express Boat products; a tourist day pass or a local cross-river boat is a different ticket.
Check the current timetable image, stopping pattern and pier notices. The page lists Oriental Pier N1 as closed for renovation at the research date. For sightseeing, compare the separate Chao Phraya Tourist Boat. A familiar riverside landmark does not establish that every flag colour stops at the nearest pier.

Protect the connection, not just the sailing

Check weather and operator notices before leaving the hotel. Keep enough room between a boat journey and a fixed flight, especially when the tickets are separate. Confirm check-in time, luggage limits, boarding steps and the return sailing before travelling to a remote landing point.
If a service is cancelled, ask the operator about the conditions attached to your particular ticket. Keep a mainland overnight option available. The map and timetable are planning aids; the operator’s current operational decision determines whether the vessel sails.
